Investigation of Tabriz nursing staffs' Viewpoints regarding the development of home care in 2014

Abstract:
Introduction: This study aimed to investigate of Tabriz nursing staffs' viewpoints
regarding the development of home care and its advantage in Iran health system.
Methods: A cross-sectional study carried out with participant of nursing staffs' of Imam
Reza, Shaheed Madani, 29 Bahman, Shams, children hospital of Tabriz in 2014. Nurses
employed in target hospitals optionally according to convenience sampling technique
were studied. Questionnaire validity was reviewed and confirmed by 10 experts. Its
reliability in a pilot study using Cronbach's alpha index (α=0.86) was confirmed. Data
obtained from the study were analyzed using descriptive statistics (frequency, percentage,
mean and standard deviation). Data were analysed by SPSS-16 software.
Results: Based on the study findings the most important advantage of home care include
reducing hospital infections, medical institutions cost reduction, increase patients'
participation and contribute to improving psychological status of patients, patients it as a
solution take proper care of empowerment cripple patients and chronic is. Also insurance
supporte to finance home care and supervision and evaluation of service provider
organizations by Ministry of Health in collaboration with NGOs are the requirements of
the home care plan.
Conclusion: From nursing staffs' perspective home care services are more suitable for the
chronically ill patients and the elderly and crippled people. Decreasing costs and improve
patient participation and reduce hospital related complications are the most important
advantage of home care.
