چکیده
Genital warts are not malignant by themselves, although lesions caused by certain types of viruses are susceptible to malignant changes. Until now, different treatment methods have been proposed and used for these lesions, each of which has its advantages and disadvantages. The current study aims to compare the therapeutic effects and investigate the side effects of using 40% local hydrogen peroxide solution with cryotherapy in genital wart lesions. Materials and Methods: In this randomized clinical trial, 40 patients with genital warts were randomly divided into two intervention and control groups; that the control group received the standard treatment of genital warts (cryotherapy) based on the discretion of the attending physician, and at the patients of the intervention group, only local hydrogen peroxide solution (40% by volume) was applied to one or two of their lesions, and standard treatment was applied to their other lesions Adult genital warts (cryotherapy) were used. After applying the solution, the patients were observed for at least 20 minutes in terms of drug and skin side effects. Medicines (for the case group) and cryotherapy (for the control group) were administered on the first visit, the visit 3 weeks later, and the visit 6 weeks later, and each time the patients were examined in terms of the effects of the treatment, efficacy and side effects of receiving the medicine, and in the 8 week visit Then the patients were examined only in terms of treatment effects, efficacy and side effects of receiving the drug and did not receive any intervention. Results: 67.5% of patients were male. The average age of the patients was 27.72 ± 4.03 years; The minimum age of the patients was 22 years and the maximum was 41 years. Comparing the results obtained from the efficiency of 40% hydrogen peroxide versus cryotherapy showed that the use of both treatments led to a significant reduction in the severity and number of lesions, but the efficiency of cryotherapy treatment was much higher than that of 40% hydrogen peroxide. Based on comparison by the Chi-Square test, no statistically significant difference was observed between the two groups (p=0.987). On the other hand, the comparison of the results obtained from the severity of complications caused by hydrogen peroxide 40% compared to cryotherapy showed that the use of local treatment had far less severity and frequency of complications in patients. Based on the comparison by the Chi-Square test, no statistically significant difference was observed between the two groups (p=0.778).
