چکیده
Today, surgery is the treatment of many diseases and induction of anesthesia to perform this process is inevitable. A variety of drugs are used to induce anesthesia, each of which has advantages and disadvantages. In this study, we investigated the effectiveness of two anesthetic gases, Isoflurane and Sevoflurane, used to maintain anesthesia in infants undergoing limited surgery. Method: A total of 72 infants younger than one year old requiring limited surgery lasting less than one hour were included in the study. After induction of anesthesia, laryngeal mask was implanted and anesthesia was maintained in the first group with 1.5% isoflurane in mixture with 50% liquid and 50% N2O, and in the second group with 2.5% sevoflurane in mixture with 50% O2 and 50% N2O. Four factors including SBP, DBP, HR and SpO2 were evaluated. Results; The characteristics of patients before and after induction of anesthesia, during surgery and during recovery phase were evaluated. Cases that differed significantly between the two groups included SBP of the first 15 minutes and HR of the first 15 minutes during recovery (P = 0.037 and P = 0.023, respectively). The mean HR for the first 15 minutes was 131.1 beats/minute for patients in the Sevoflurane group and 127.6 beats/minute for patients in the Isoflurane group. Although the median of SBP for the first 15 minutes in the two study groups was 90, the mean was significantly different (the mean in the Sevoflurane group was 89.8 ± 11.9 and in the isoflurane group was 9.2. ± 92.4).
