BACKGROUND AND AIM: Obsessive-compulsive disorder is one of the traumatic psychological disorders that is characterized by resistant and repetitive thoughts and repetitive behaviors along with anxiety. These behaviors can affect oral and dental health. Also, drugs Consumption by OCD patients can cause changes in oral and dental health. The purpose of this study is to compare the state of oral and dental health and health-related habits in adolescents with obsessive-compulsive disorder with healthy individuals. METHODS AND MATERIALS: In this descriptive-analytical study, 31 adolescents aged 12 to 17 years with obsessive-compulsive disorder according to DSM-IV-TR criteria with a subspecialty diagnosis of child psychiatry were included in the study. Also, 31 healthy adolescents aged 12 to 17 years were included in the study as a control group using the CSI-4 with the aim of checking the absence of other disorders and using the Children's Obsessive-Compulsive Form questionnaire. Bleedin on probing,gingival recession, dental abrasion, plaque index was examined, and the patients were asked about the brushing frequency, brushing duration, and brushing method. Data analysis was done using SPSS version 24, regression, chi-square and independent t-tests. A probability value of less than 5 percent is considered as a significant level. RESULTS: In this study, it was found that in patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder, plaque index was significantly lower than in the control group. Brushing frequency, brushing method, gingival recession, dental abrasion and bleeding on probing had no significant difference. Also, brushing duration in OCD patients was significantly longer than the control group. CONCLUSION: As a result of obsessive-compulsive disorder, due to brushing frequency and brushing duration, the amount of plaque index is lower.
