dc.description.abstractBackground: Chronic diseases of diabetes and high blood pressure and its complications can impose adverse effects cause heavy economic burdens and reduces the life quality of the patients and his/her family. The aim of this study was to investigate the epidemiological characteristics of patients with Covid-19 in Shabestar city and also the care status of chronic patients in the later period of Corona epidemic. Methods: In this descriptive –analytical type study, demographic and epidemiological data of all people who presented to hospitals in Shabestar city from 20 February 2020 19 February 2021 with a diagnosis of COVI-19 checklists. Then, 607 chronic patients were selected by stratified-random sampling method and their care rate was compared with the previous year of Corona. Results: In this study, 3781 covid-19 positive patients were examined. According to results, 50.24% of males, 60.71% of the cases occurred in the elderly over 60 years. The Case fatality rate Covid-19 in the city is 5.57%, which had a significant increase in the age group over 60 years. This rate was determined in men (5.55) and urban dwellers (6.36). The mortality rate of diabetic patients is 4.81% and that of hypertensive patients is 4.73% of Covid-19. Final analysis showed that average number of cares for diabetic patients was 2.30 (1.55) and for patients with hypertension was 2.54 (1.46) and comorbidity 2.64 (1.49) cases to family physicians in the following year. Conclusions: Due to the high death rate in the elderly, males, those with underlying diseases, it is necessary to design and apply precautionary measures in these groups. The care of chronic patients by the health system is far from the set standards. Paying attention to chronic patients in the shortest possible time will reduce the burden of this disease on individuals as well as the health care system.en_US
