چکیده
Symptoms related to hemorrhoids include bleeding, pain, itching, decreased defecation, prolapse and mucous secretions. The main goal of topical treatment is more focused on controlling symptoms than treating the disease. Topical treatment may be helpful in selected groups of hemorrhoid patients, but many patients do not get enough symptomatic relief with these measures and may need more intervention. In addition, some of the side effects of topical ointments prevent patients from continuing the treatment process. It seems that the use of treatment that can reduce the symptoms and control the underlying pathology in this disease, will be very significant and promising. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of topical sodium pentaborate ointment on hemorrhoid symptoms in patients with grade 1 to 4 internal hemorrhoids. Methods: Patients with hemorrhoid symptoms, who meet the inclusion criteria, were first subjected to colonoscopy to rule out other intestinal diseases. Patients were then randomly assigned to intervention or control groups in a 1: 1 ratio. The severity of patients' symptoms was assessed using patient and physician questionnaires through interviews and rigid anoscopy. In the treated group, 3% sodium pentaborate pentahydrate gel was administered twice daily for 1 month and in the control group, hemorrhoids were treated in a way other than the mentioned method. At the end of the treatment period, the patients were re-visited, interviewed and re-examined, and by examining and evaluating the forms, the rate of improvement of symptoms and the severity of hemorrhoids in the patients of both groups were compared. The data were then analyzed. Results: In the study variables, none of the variables were statistically significant differences between the two groups. However, after the intervention, most patients in the intervention group had less anal itching with a severity of 1.12 ± 0.05 compared to the placebo group with a severity of 3.10 52 0.52. Also, resting pain, pain intensity at rest, patient pain during defecation, pain intensity during defecation, feeling of mass in the anus, score of feeling of mass in the anus, bleeding during defecation, lesion with hemorrhoids, skin tag It was less than the placebo group. The results all indicate the effectiveness of topical sodium pentaborate ointment on hemorrhoid symptoms in patients with grade 1 to 4 internal hemorrhoids.
