Abstract
Laryngeal cancer is a type of cancer that affects the vocal cords. Laryngeal cancer can damage the patient's voice and, if not treated immediately, can spread throughout the body. Although the role of environmental factors is more prominent than genetic factors, the role of genetics in the development of Its progression was negligible because in the pathogenesis of this disease, environmental changes eventually lead to genetic changes and subsequent cell death. Micro RNAs are among the most important genes involved in causing cancer. In this study, the change in the relative expression level of these genes as a candidate for biomarkers of patients' blood was analyzed and the changes in the relative expression of these genes were evaluated. Materials and Methods:During the surgical procedure of laryngeal cancer patients, a set of 20 serum samples and the serum of normal individuals were collected. After total RNA extraction, real-time PCR was used to measure changes in gene expression. Pvalue <0.05 was considered significant in statistical tests. Results:After the studies performed, the relative expression level of miR214 in cancer samples was significantly reduced compared to healthy samples. Also, expression of mir-21, miR-99b and miR-221 had a significant increase in cancer samples compared to healthy samples. The rest of the studied genes did not show significant differences.
