Introduction: Providing unnecessary services in health systems is common, costly and even harmful, and preventing unnecessary services and providing essential services can have a major impact on cost reduction and quality of service. Objectives: This study was conducted with the aim of analyzing documentation and related media in the field of unnecessary use of services in the health system of Iran in 1397. Methods: This research was carried out qualitatively from the type of review of upstream documents and interviews related to the official people posted on the sites of related organizations. For this study, related subject matter was searched through databases and related country reports or related sites. Also, media interviews on the topic were also sought. For data analysis, the traditional content or positional analysis method has been used to extract texts, codes, and categories directly from the text data. Results: In the field of documentation, 11 related documents were included in the study. In the field of media, 81 news stories were also included. After analyzing the factors affecting the administration of unnecessary services in four categories, economic factors, infrastructure, service delivery, and monitoring and evaluation were ranked. Prevention strategies were presented in three categories, including structural solutions, economic strategies and performance-based solutions. Disadvantages of administering unnecessary services were classified into individual factors and social factors. Eventually, paraclinic level services, such as imaging and laboratory services, were identified as the most unnecessary services provided. Conclusion: In the health system of Iran, unnecessary health care services are provided to a greater extent. Therefore, in view of the inadequacy of the provision of unnecessary services in documentation and the media, attention has been paid to reducing and resolving this problem. It is hoped that with the help of the media in this field and existing documents, identifying and introducing unnecessary services and preventing them from providing them, resources and strategies will be provided to provide a better balance in the provision of services and results such as improving the quality of services, reducing costs. , Increase the satisfaction and service providers.en_US
