dc.description.abstract | The aim of the present study was to compare the effect of different concentrations of triamcinolone acetonide injection on alopecia areata.
Materials and Methods: Patients with clinical diagnosis of alopecia areata who are randomly divided into three groups of 15 patients with different concentrations of triamcinolone acetonide at doses of 2.5 mg/ml, 5 mg/ml and 10 mg/ml were injected into the scalp lesion. Then, hair growth rate, response to treatment and side effects after treatment were evaluated.
Results: The age group of 26 to 35 years had a higher frequency (40%) and most patients (62.2%) were male. 39 cases (86.7%) mentioned the history of stress and stressors in their daily lives. The mean age of onset of the disease in the studied patients was 35.11±11.88 years. The mean duration of illness (current attack) before treatment in the studied patients was 2.47±2.02 months. Nail changes were observed in 4 cases (8.9%) of the studied patients. There was a personal history in 5 patients (11.1%), 2 case of atopy, 2 cases of thyroid disorder and 1 case of vitiligo. In terms of family history, there were 9 cases of alopecia areata in the studied patients. Skin atrophy was observed in 12 cases (26.7%). 60% of patients improved after treatment and 57.8% of patients were completely satisfied. | en_US |
