Comparative Assessment of Nurses, Patients and Nursing Students' Perceptions Regarding Importance of Caring Behaviors in Critical care units and its Determinants in Hospitals affiliated to the Medical Science University of Tabriz, 2013.

Abstract: Introduction: Caring talks about basic human needs and a fundamental component of the nursing profession. In improving quality of care, yet prioritize caring behaviors and factors in understanding these behaviors in unclear. The purpose of this study was to investigate nursing, patients and nursing students' perceptions of caring behaviors' in critical care units and its determinant factors. Methods: In this descriptive –correlative 600 nurses, students and patients who had the inclusion criteria were chosen by census sampling. Data were collected by the Caring Assessment Questionnaire (Care –Q), developed by Larson. Caring behaviors' consisted of 57 statement were ranked on a 5 –point Likert –type scale and ordered in six subscales. The data were analyzed using SPSS software version 21.0. Results: Nurses, students and patients to prioritize similar for all three groups had care of the most important physical care, emotional care were identified. Therefore, an understanding of the agreement between the three groups was observed. Subgroup "availability" is the most important item was perceived from the perspective of students and patients. Conclusion: Finding showed that some important technical (e.g. assisting a patient with an activity of living) and psychological aspect of caring (e.g. listening to a patient) might be neglected. In addition to physical care a holistic care need to pay attention to emotional care.
