Comparative evaluation of pulp response following direct pulp capping with nanohydroyapatite-lactoferrin (a new biomaterial), nanohydroxyapatite and CEM-CEMENT: an animal study

چکیده
Introduction: Pulp protection is very important in preserving tooth life in restorative treatments. Recently, the use of biocompatible materials for pulp regeneration has been considered in dentistry. This study aimed to compare the pulp response following direct pulp coating with nanohydroxyapatite-lactoferrin (NHA + LF) nanohydroxyapatite and CEM. Materials and methods: In the present study, 12 Wistar rats aged 8-10 weeks and weighing 200-250 gr were included in the study. Two first molars in each rat were selected and NHA + LF, NHA or CEM were used randomly in each molar. After 4 weeks, histological evaluation of the tissue prepared from the jaws of mice was performed with a light microscope. Data were analyzed by SPSS 20 statistical software. The results were reported descriptively (frequency, mean, median and standard deviation). Results: The results of this study showed that there was no significant difference in the presence or absence of inflammation between NHA + LF, NHA and CEM samples. Also, the frequency of odontoblastic layer was similar in all three groups of materials. There was no statistically significant difference in the frequency of hard tissue bridges in NHA + LF, NHA and CEM samples. Conclusion: The combination of NHA + LF in the direct coating of Wistar rat pulp repairs and forms dentin bridges similar to CEM and NHA materials. Also, the rate of inflammation and the severity of inflammation are similar to these substances, and therefore its application in human studies can be tested and studied.
