چکیده
Both chronic and acute renal failure could cause the respiratory dysfunction Since controversies exist among the few studies investigating the pulmonary function in ESRD patients undergoing hemodialysis treatment. Therefore, we designed this study to investigate the acute effects of hemodialysis treatment on spirometry parameters among CKD patients. Methods: In this cross sectional-descriptive study, the Spirometry was performed twice for the eligible patients: before and immediately after the hemodialysis session. All spirometry tests were done by the same person. The before and after dialysis measured parameters were: forced expiratory volume in the first second (FEV1), forced vital capacity (FVC), vital capacity (VC), and the FEV1/FVC ratio. Results: The spirometry parameters before and after the dialysis had no significant changes (0.05<P for each parameter). Also, the airway resistance in 5 Hz after the dialysis were changed significantly (P<0.05), while the 20 Hz resistance before and after the dialysis had no significant changes (P>0.05).
