The Knowledge and Attitudes of Nurses towards the Pain and its Control in Surgery Wards in Teaching Hospital, Tabriz, 1994.

Abstract: The present research is a descriptive analytic study for survey of knowledge and attitude of Nurses to pain and its control in surgery wards of the hospitals affiliated to Tabriz Medical Science University. It consisted of a general goal and three special goals in relation with knowledge and attitude of nurses to pain and its control. The research was done on 40 nurses who had been selected through purposive sampling method. The information gathered through questionnaire given to them including 3 parts. The first included personal characteristics the second was about knowledge and the 3rd part was in relation attitude the nurses to pain and its control. For achieving the goals of the research, descriptive & inferential statistics was used. The results is shown in 43 tables, 4 diagrams and 2 lines. The research showed that 77.5$ of the mentioned nurses had weak or average knowledge about pain and its control. 22.5% of them had good knowledge in this regard. Also the result of research indicates that 50% of the mentioned nurses had positive attitude and the rest, 50%, had negative attitude on pain and its control, in surgery wards. No reasonable relation was found between knowledge & attitude variants. In relation with attitude and personal characteristic it was found that there is a reasonable negative relation between attitude and age (r=-0.31) and service record (r=-0.38) in the surgery wards. The researcher has presented some suggestion in the base of the founding of the research for application of them and for performance of the next researches.
