dc.description.abstractAbstract Introduction: The complex nature of health and disease, the effect of various economic and social factors on the settings of the health system and also the effect of health on the social and economic conditions of society require a social approach to health. Objective: The purpose of this study is to identify the functions and approaches to socialization of health and to investigate the current situation of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences. Methods: The present study is a multi-stage study that has used extensive review and qualitative study. First, a scoping review of community participation and Inter-sectoral cooperation in the Scopus and web of science databases, PubMed, was conducted between 1978 and 2019 as pillars of health socialization. Expert opinions were examined in 2 focused group discussion sessions and 2 semi-structured individual interviews with 14 participants. The findings of the previous two stages were examined and finalized in the form of a panel of experts. Finally, the documents of the vice chancellors of the University of Medical Sciences were examined. Results: The results of reviewing the existing articles were classified in the form of indicators, strategies and community participation programs and indicators and strategies of inter-sectoral cooperation. The results of qualitative analysis were identified in a total of 21 main themes and 90 sub-themes in the two areas of the nature of socialization and the approaches of the vice chancellors of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences. Based on the documents of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences, 65 action plans in the field of inter-sectoral cooperation and 9 action plans in the field of community participation were extracted. Conclusion : Health socialization has two basic dimensions of cross-sectoral cooperation and social participation. The role of medical universities in the socialization of health can be defined in the form of steps to identify, empower, organize and use potentials outside the health sector to promote community health.en_US
