Survey of Barriers in Performing Nursing Process from the Viewpoints of Employed Nurses in the Educational and Curative Centers of Urmia University of Medical Sciences, 1376.

چکیده
Abstract: Introduction: Nursing process is one of the most important factors which can promote the quality of nursing care. It is a scientific and practical method that help client’s well bigs. By performing nursing process we can diagnosis client’s health needs and planning to resolve her or his health difficulties and evaluate the nursing care outcomes as well as possible. The studies indicate that usually there are some individual and Managerial factors which act as barriers in performing nursing process. So it seems necessary to conduct research in this area for identifying these barriers. By reducing or omitting some of them, it would possible to promote the quality of nursing care. Method & Material: This descriptive study was conducted to determine the barriers in performing nursing from the viewpoints of employed nurses. The data were collected by questionnaire. A three point Likert scale was used to determine the importance of barriers. The population of this survey was employed nurses with BS or MS degree. The samples size was as population (109 nurses). Results: The findings indicated that the most important individual barriers are: lack of educate knowledge about nursing process (75.9%), inadequate learning about it (68%), lack of belief nursing process (55.7%) and inadequate motivation (55%). The most important managerial barriers are inadequate time and qualified staffing (89.9%, 78.9%). Lack of attention to nurse’s interest to select their work field (78.7%), lack of expertise nurses to teach nursing process (76.1%) and involving of nurses in works that are not relevant ti nursing (75.8%). Discussion: The findings indicated that there are some individual and managerial barriers in performing nursing process. From the nurse’s viewpoints most of them were very important. It might be as a result of poor quality nurse’s educational programs, poor continuing education and the gap between theory and practice and lock of qualified nursing managers so there is need that nursing managers to pay more attention to nursing education and clinical practice, to promote the quality of nursing care.
