Determining the usability of dermatological topics based on north-western Tabriz city's general practitioners’ perspective

the first line in the management of majority of dermatological complaints are general practitioners. Therefore, noting the squeezed timetable of Dermatology for undergraduates, there must be an emphasis on the most practical topics in the clinic in the educational curriculum. Therefore, present study was carried out to determine the usefulness of Dermatology topics from the perspective of general practitioners.
Methods: This descriptive and cross-sectional study was carried out on 138 physicians working in Tabriz city using a questionnaire that was prepared based on previous studies. Data were analyzed using SPSS software, and P <0.05 was considered significant in all statistical tests.
Results: The results of this study showed that in general, in northwestern Tabriz general practitioners’ perspective the most applicable topics for diagnosis included atopic dermatitis, psoriasis and cysts, and the least used topics were leprosy, dermatofibroma, and vasculitis. The most applicable topics in pathology and etiology included herpes zoster, acne, cysts, and herpes simplex, and the least used topics were leprosy, lichen planus, bullous autoimmune diseases, and stasis dermatitis. The most applicable topics in treatment included herpes simplex, contact dermatitis, acne, and atopic dermatitis, and the least commonly used topics were leprosy, acrocordons, dermatofibroma, and vasculitis.
