Abstract
The aim of this study is to evaluation two year prognosis of the visual acuity in patients with eye trauma under 7 years old age hospitalized in Tabriz Nikukari Hospital. Materials and Methods: In this study, which is a descriptive cross sectional study and all patients admitted to Nikukari hospital of Tabriz in 2016 who were less than 7 years old were recruited. Gathering information through analysis of patient records and the free and in-person examination of visual acuity following a call to the clinic. information was recorded in a questionnaire. Results: In this study, 35 patients younger than 7 years were included. The patients' final visual acuity (24 months after the initial trauma) was significantly increased compared to the initial visual acuity (at the time of admission). There was no significant difference between patients' final visual acuity and gender, place of residence (city or village), age of patients, cause and type of injury. On the other hand, the presence of cataract, presence of anterior and/or deep vitrectomy had a significantly worse prognosis for patients' final visual acuity. Patients who lacked natural or artificial lenses had a significantly worse prognosis for final visual acuity than other patients. Also, as the number of surgeries increased in these patients in the first 6 months, there was a significantly worse prognosis for final visual acuity.
