The Prevalence of Vaginal Candidiasis and its Relationship with Health-Promoting Lifestyle in Women referred to Health Centers of the City of Bukan 2018: A Cross -Sectional Study

Abstract: Introduction: Candida vaginitis is an infection of the fungal species and is the second most common infection of women worldwide which can leave a significant and debilitating condition in women of Fertility ages. The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of vaginal candidiasis and its relationship with health promoting lifestyle in Bukan. Methods: This cross-sectional study was performed on 320 women referred to health centers in Bukan. Participants were sampled with 2 sterile cotton swabs from vaginal discharge. One of the swabs was measured and recorded by the pH of paper tape meters, vaginal pH. The other swab was slides on a 50% KOH 10% solution and viewed under a microscope.If you see the germination of yeast cells samples were considered positive. Absolute and relative frequency distribution, mean and standard deviation, KS test, independent t-test, chi-square test, chi-square test, Fisher exact test, independent t-test or variance analysis, linear regression and multivariate logistic regression was used for data analysis. Results: The number (Percent) of patients with vaginitis was 124 (38.8). The mean (standard deviation) of participants' vaginal pH was 6.6 (0.7). Candida prevalence was not significantly correlated with health promoting lifestyle and its sub domains. Prevalence of diabetes (P = 0.048), Duration of diabetes (P = 0.096), Number of children (P = 0.038), Pregnancy (P = 0.026), Education (P <0.0001), Job (P <0.0001) and life satisfaction (P = 0.006) were significantly associated with health promoting lifestyle. Conclusion: The prevalence of Candida was not significantly correlated with health promoting lifestyle and its sub domain.
