dc.description.abstractAbstract: Introduction: The GIS is known for its capabilities such as analytical, managerial, security and backup tools and for the provision of powerful ground-based databases in the world. The prevalence of diabetes is one of the most crucial health problems in many countries. One of the most important perquisites in the treatment of this disease is to register the patient's spatial information and assessment the effects of various geographical and environmental layers on prevalence of disease. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to "Design the information system for diabetic patients using GIS in health centers affiliated to the Hashtrood Health Network". Materials and Methods: In this descriptive - analytical study the required urban and rural diabetic patients data were gathered through archivedrecords at different treatment centers in the hashtrood city, then the location of the patient was determined applying GPS. Among the most important research tools in current study, the GPS Information, demographical information ,climate data, geological layers, soil, elevation, and the diabetes demographic information form.. Results: Items in rural communities for both sexes were confirmed as cummulative. The northern and central parts of the city had highest density. Diabetic patients shows a significant trend. 20% of diabetic patients in urban areas of Hashtrood displayed high concentrations pattern. The northern and eastern regions have densely and poorly distribution of diabetes. Percentage of people with diabetes in urban and rural areas equal to 2.51 and 0.58, respectively. Other measures such as clustering, hotspots, and ecological and regional analysis were reported. Conclusion: Current study showed the predominance of GIS than other analytical and traditional methods in analysisand clustering of a big volume of patient data using maps and statistical indicatiors.So, it provides a good opportunity to take advantage of the GIS in organizations against other methods.
