Abstract
In this study, we decided to address the causes and outcome of the treatment of cases of acute Closed-angle glaucoma who visited the Emergency Department of Tabriz Nikukari hospital. Materials and Methods: This descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted on hospital records with the aim of investigating the causes and outcomes of acute Closed-angle glaucoma in the emergency department of Tabriz Nikukari Ophthalmology Center from 2007 to 2016. In this study, 61 patients were enrolled. This study was performed on patients referred to the Emergency Department of the Nikukari Hospital of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences from 2007 to 2016. Results: The average age of patients in our study was 57.13 ± 2.35. The average intraocular pressure before and after treatment was 49.93 ± 1.44, and 96.9 ± 0.8, and one week after treatment it was 15.65 ± 0.62. The intraocular pressure was reduced after treatment. 36 patients were without underlying illness (59%) and 25 patients (41%) had an underlying illness. There was no relationship between this history and intraocular pressure immediately after treatment and one week after treatment. However, there was a significant statistical relationship between intraocular pressures. 40 patients were without previous history of glaucoma (65.6%) and 21 patients (34.4%) had previous history glaucoma treatment.
