چکیده
The aim of the present study was to assess the association of BAV phenotype with patterns of valvular dysfunction and resultant aorthopathy using echocardiography. Materials and methods: In this cross-sectional study, 300 patients with BAV (males=72%, average age=39.65±15.77), who did not undergo valve or aortic root surgery, were assessed. Trans-thoracic echocardiography and if needed TEE were carried out and valvular dysfunctions such as AS, AI and accompanied aorthopathies were assessed. Data was analyzed using SPSS (version 17) and chi square, one way ANOVA. Results: BAV-AP and BAV-RL phenotypes were found in 62.7% and 37.7% of the patients. BAV-AP was significantly associated with normal aorta, dilatation of valsalva sinus, AI, and coA (p<0.001) and BAV-RL was significantly associated with dilatation of aortic arch (p<0.001), AS (p<0.001), and AV endocarditis (p<0.01).
