Evaluation of ischemic cardiac function class and sexual dysfunction after radical prostatectomy with nerve preservation for prostatic cancer

The purpose of this study was to compare the risk factors
for ischemic heart disease in patients with and without sexual disorders
following post-operative radical prostatectomy with nerve preservation due to
localized prostate cancer.
materials and methods:
The presence of risk factors for cardiovascular disease, ischemic heart disease,
and echocardiography findings were evaluated by a cardiologist. Sexual
function status of patients before and after 6 months of surgery was evaluated
by Persian IIEF questionnaire. Then all data is analyzed with spss version 19.
Results:
In this study 103 patients from 96 patients underwent radical prostatectomy.
Sexual and non-sexual patients were 74 (77%) 22 (22.9%), respectively. The
number of cardiovascular risk factors was statistically significant between the
two groups with and without sexual dysfunction (P <0.001).
