چکیده
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of various postures (position) during operation on postoperative nausea and vomiting. Methods & Materials: In a descriptive-comparative study, after approval by the Ethics Committee and research department of the Tabriz Medical university, the selected patients in shohada hospital at general anesthetic surgery. Depending on the specific positioning operation, the patient was given surgery, including supine, prone, lateral and sitting positions. The anesthetist did not effected on surgery position select during the operation. After the operation, patients were evaluated for the incidence of nausea and vomiting and the effects of demographic and basal variables. results: By examining the frequency of different surgical positions for patients who experienced postoperative nausea and vomiting at different levels, it was found that 43.66% of them in the supine position, 21.13% in the lateral position, 19.72% in the Positions were prone and 15.49% were in the position of beach chair. Significant relationships were observed between patient's stay in recovery and the nausea for Prone positions (sig = 0.045) and Beach chair position (sig = 0.032). Based on the statistical results, no significant correlation was found between the age of the patients and the frequency of postoperative nausea for supine, lateral and prone position (sig> 0.05). However, body mass index and its effect on nausea in the beach chair position (sig = 0.015) showed a meaningful relationship. Conclusion: Based on the results of this study, the effective role of patient's stay in recovery and the use of antiemetic in reducing the incidence of generalized nausea and vomiting. The supine position seems to be based on the prevalence of nausea and vomiting at risk. Also, obese and female patients in the position of Beach chair sitting, are considered to be at risk and it is advisable for them to take preventive measures.
