Evaluation of the knowledge, attitude and practice of Tabriz general dental practitioners about root canal irrigrants(2010)

Abstract

Root canal irrigants would improve the the mechanical debridementEs action by pushing out debris, solving tissues, and canal disinfection. The chemical debridement is necessary especially in canals with complicated internal anatomy. In this study, we aimed to evaluate Tabriz general dental practitionersE knowledge, attitude, and practice on utilizing various root canal irrigants in 2011. Materials & Methods: 170 dentists were selected randomly and they filled out the designed questioner. The collected data then, was analyzed by statistical software. Results: generally, the knowledge, attitude, and practice of the participated dentists was determined in a low level. There wasnEt any significant co-relationship between the age of participants and their knowledge (p>0.05). The higher knowledge level was shown among the dentists who have higher practical experience. The difference between males and females knowledge levels was not statistically significant (P>0.05). Conclusions: the results revealed in this study indicated that generally Tabriz general dental practitionersE knowledge, attitude, and practice on utilizing various root canal irrigants was in a low level.
