Policy analysis and development of upcoming policy options to prevention of iron deficiency anemia in Iran

Abstract

Model indicates that in order to reduce the prevalence of this disease in target populations, existing policies at the political, technical, and social levels need to be aligned and coordinated. Given that implementation challenges and financial resource shortages are among the main obstacles, it is recommended that governments more effectively utilize the capacities of non-governmental organizations, the private sector, and international organizations. Additionally, reforms in public education and raising community awareness about the importance of proper nutrition and supplement consumption can be considered a key step in preventing iron deficiency anemia. Finally, this study emphasizes the need for integration and coordination between health, social, and economic policies in order to effectively address the challenge of iron deficiency anemia.
