Abstract
In cystoscopy, various lenses are used with different grades, each of which has different applications. When the sheet cystoscope or resectoscope is inserted into the bladder, a 30- or 70-degree lens can be used to examine the intra-bladder. On the other hand, it is observed in the clinic that there is probably no significant difference in performing a 70-degree cystoscopy with a 30-degree cystoscopy; so the aim of this study is comparing the diagnostic accuracy of 30 and 70 lenses in intra-bladder lesions of patients admitted to Imam Rezai Hospital in Tabriz. Materials and Methods: This research was a descriptive-analytical cross-sectional study. In this study, the target population was all patients diagnosed with bladder cancer or which that had a history of bladder tomurs at Imam Reza Hospital of Tabriz during 2020-21. The sample size was determined to be 200 people. The sampling method was census. At first, questions related to demographic variables, duration of disease, ultrasound findings were asked to the patients. Patients were referred to the operating room; then the patients were put under general anesthesia and underwent cystoscopy after dorsal lithotomy position. At first, the patients were subjected to cystoscopy with a 30 degree lens and cystoscopy findings were reported. Then the bladder was emptied and the lens was changed and a 70° lens was used, and all the cystoscopy findings were reported in the patient's checklist. In the end, the patient underwent surgery (TURBT) if there was a mass, and if there was no pathological lesion, they were awake and referred to the recovery room. Next, all the above information was entered into the statistical analysis program and the data was analyzed. Results: In this study, the average (standard deviation) age of the subjects was 64.71 (± 13.0) years. The gender of the majority of these people was male with 128 people (64.0%). Among the 200 referred patients, the mass was present in 124 cases (62.0%), and their gender was male in 83 cases (41.5%) and female in 41 cases (20.5%). There was no significant relationship between the presence of intra-bladder mass with gender in the studied patients (P>0.05). Also, among the patients with mass findings, tumor was diagnosed in 114 cases (91.9%) with a 30° lens, but in 10 cases (8.1%) of these people, the tumor was not detectable; while with 70 degree lens, tumor was detected in all these people. Between 30 and 70 degrees lens, there was a statistically significant relationship in the diagnostic accuracy of intra-bladder tumor in the studied patients (P<0.001). There was no statistically significant relationship between the results of 30 and 70 degree lenses with the age and gender in the studied subjects (P>0.05).
