Correlation of corona infection with maternal and fetal complications during pregnancy in patients hospitalized in Al-Zahra and Imam Reza medical education centers

Abstract
Considering that pregnant mothers and babies are among the high-risk groups during the corona disease pandemic, and considering the lack of definitive results regarding the impact of this disease on pregnancy outcomes, in the present study, we decided to investigate Let's discuss the effect of corona infection during pregnancy on maternal and fetal complications of pregnancy. It is hoped that the results of the present study will be effective in determining the outcome of mothers' pregnancy and also in determining care during pregnancy in mothers with covid-19; Therefore, the present study was conducted with the aim of relating corona infection with maternal and fetal complications during pregnancy of patients hospitalized in Al-Zahra and Imam Reza medical education centers. Material and Methods: In this cross-sectional descriptive study, 45 hospitalized pregnant mothers with covid-19 and 45 mothers who were not infected with covid-19 during pregnancy were included in the study as an easy and accessible sampling. The two studied groups were compared in terms of the maternal outcomes of pregnancy, including the type of delivery, premature delivery, abortion, stillbirth, hospitalization and the incidence of preeclampsia. Babies were also examined in terms of neonatal outcomes, including Apgar at birth, being stained with meconium, birth weight, gestational age at birth, hospitalization in NICU, days of hospitalization, low birth weight or being small for gestational age. Both groups were followed up by phone up to one month after birth and checked for complications. Results: Cesarean delivery (P=0.014), duration of hospital stay after delivery (P=0.045) nd also the number of women requiring hospitalization The intensive care unit (P=0.036) was significantly higher in the participants of the case group than in the participants of the control group; Neonatal fever (p=0.036), the number of babies needing to be hospitalized in the neonatal intensive care unit (p=0.048), the duration of the newborn's hospitalization in the hospital (p=0.009) and the duration of the newborn's hospitalization in the intensive care unit Babies (p=0.013) in the case group babies were significantly more than the control group babies.
