Abstract
Laryngeal cancer includes 30 to 40% of head and neck malignancies and is the most common ear, nose and throat malignancy in the world. The main risk factors for laryngeal cancer are: tobacco use, heavy alcohol consumption, gastroesophageal reflux, Plummer-Vinson syndrome, exposure to heat, chemicals, and some viral infections. The geographical distribution of laryngeal cancer also shows some cases, Europe has the highest incidence rate and Africa has the lowest incidence rate for this disease. Also, there are clear differences in the rate of complications and mortality of laryngeal cancer between urban and rural areas and between the two sexes. arrying out projects to examine the transcripts of the human genome revealed the importance of non-coding RNA in various cell activities. Among these, the role of the non-coding gene CCAT2 in various types of cancers has been considered as an oncogene. Materials and methods: In this research, 50 tumor tissue samples and 50 tumor margin samples of cancer patients with laryngeal cancer, including 45 men and 5 women, were examined. RNA was isolated from the target tissues using an extraction kit (trizol), cDNA synthesis was performed from the extracted RNA, then Real Time PCR was performed to express the target genes, and finally statistical analysis was performed using the software. Results: According to the results of the study, the expression of the studied gene was significantly increased in the tumor tissue compared to the marginal healthy tissue. Also, the changes of this gene were related to metastasis, involvement of lymph node and the stage of the disease. Also, the findings related to biomarker analyzes showed that the expression of these genes has the ability to distinguish healthy tissue from the patient and has no biomarker value for differentiating tumor tissue from healthy tissue.
