ٍEvaluation of driving competence of elderly Iranian drivers: a cross-sectional study in 1402

Abstract

Abstract : Background: Since traffic accidents are one of the most common accidents and accidents that endanger the lives of many people in the world every year, therefore among different age groups recently, the elderly due to the increase in their population along with the aging of the population and the occurrence of most accidents and accidents In people over 60 years old, it has attracted the attention of health policy makers. Therefore, the present study was conducted with the aim of evaluating the driving condition of the elderly over 60 years old. Methods: The present study is a cross-sectional descriptive study to evaluate the driving competence of the elderly in northwest Iran in 1402 and by using the Older Drivers Self-Assessment Questionnaire prepared by the Royal Automobile Club of Queensland, with data from 200 companies. In the study, it was done. Available sampling methods were also used to select the participants. In order to collect data, the said questionnaire was given to the target group in both electronic and face-to-face formats. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS: 24 software. Results: In total , 203 people participated in this study , most of them were male ( 94.6 % ) .the mean age of participants was 64.27 years .the majority of participants were diploma ( 43.2 % ) and the job was more in taxi driver study ( 21.2 % ) .based on the results of the present study , the mean score of all participants was 14.79 .the mean score of health score of 4.93 , mean score of 7.44 driving and mean score of other factors was 2.42 , which were placed in yellow range .the results also showed that there is asignificant relationship between employment status of the participants in the study and other factors . : The results of the present study showed that the conditions of the elderly in Iran are not very good. therefore, it is suggested to identify and promote mental and physical health of the elderly in the range of 60 to 80 years.
