Designing a Medical Decision Support System for Early Detection of Gastric Cancer
Abstract
Abstract
Introduction
Stomach cancer is the fifth most common cancer among cancers and one of the main causes of death in the world. The present study is a decision support system to improve progNsis and early detection gastric cancer in general and high-risk populations.
method and materials
This research has been done in 3 phases: descriptive, system design, and finally evaluation. First, the risk factors influencing the incidence of stomach cancer through a systematic review study in PubMed, Scopus, Proquest, Web of Science, and search engine databases. Google scholar were identified. Then all the possible rules related to these findings were written and finally the clinical decision support system based on the extracted roles was designed in the Visual Studio environment as a Windows app and in the last phase the evaluation of the system was done.
Result and finding
In the current research, a review study was conducted to identify the risk factors influencing the occurrence of stomach cancer and after considering the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 36 studies were examined. The authority of the relevant expert was chosen and the important items that were of high importance and were repeated in the articles were selected and confirmed. Finally, the number of 13 factors was determined for writing the rules and designing the system.
Conclusion
The system is designed to help diagNse stomach cancer in the early stages and encourage referral in high-risk populations, which can be great help in screening and early diagNsis of stomach cancer.
