Investigating environmental health and safety indicators in public and private schools in Urmia city
Abstract
School is a safe place for children and teenagers and plays a very constructive role in promoting a healthy and lively life. Spatial space and a favorable psychological environment are among the important factors in reaching the desired level of educational quality. The health and safety status of the school environment plays an important role in the occurrence of accidents and the health of students. This study was conducted with the aim of investigating the indicators of environmental health and safety in public and private schools in Urmia City in the academic year 2021_ 2022.
This study is a cross-sectional descriptive study. The studied population consists of all public and private schools with all elementary, middle and high schools in Urmia City. To estimate the sample size, Cochran's formula has been used, the tools and methods of data collection in the present research in the field and library, as well as to calculate the health and safety indicators of the research environment, were prepared from the school health inspection checklist with form code 140/920318 in the workplace health center of the Ministry of Health, Treatment and Medical Education has been used in this study, due to the non-parametric information, chi-square test and chi-square based on Monte Carlo simulation have been used.
The countries studied in this research include Japan, America, England, Japan, France, Australia, and Brazil. Regarding the observance of Healthy Presonal, there are 8 items in the study checklist. In this research, the average percentage of complete compliance in private and public schools in Urmia city is 81.17% and 69.79%, respectively, Regarding Healthy Building with 29 items in the study checklist of this research, the average percentage of complete compliance in private and public schools in the city Urmia is 72.33 and 63.23 percent, respectively, Regarding compliance with the instrument and Healthy Equipment index with 13 items in the study checklist of this research, the average percentage of complete compliance in private and public schools in Urmia city is 85.69 percent, respectively. is 79.82%, Regarding compliance with the Healthy food index with 5 items in the study checklist of this research, the average percentage of complete compliance in private and public schools in Urmia city is 89.53%, respectively, and 83.69% Regarding compliance with the Safety index With 9 items in the study checklist of this research, the average percentage of full compliance in private and public schools of Urmia city is 93.09 and 81.23%, respectively, with the studies of health experts of Urmia city health center.
In general, it can be concluded that the observance of environmental health and school safety indicators in developed countries has differences with the researcher's checklist, and the differences are caused by the lifestyle, culture of the countries, and the formulation and implementation of the law.Public and private schools environmental health and safety In terms of ranking, 4 indicators (Healthy Personal, Healthy Building, Healthy Equipment, and school safety) are observed more in private schools than in public schools, and only the food Health condition in public schools of Urmia city is observed more than in private schools of this city. to be This issue requires more attention and care in order to improve and improve the health status of schools from the relevant officials.
