Abstract
In this research, we aim to present a newer criterion that seems to be able to predict mortality. The purpose of this research is to investigate the predictive effect of blood oxygen saturation ratio on heart rate on the mortality of respiratory patients. Method: The present study was carried out in a cross-sectional, descriptive-analytical way. The number of patients who entered the pilot study was 35, and based on the results obtained by calculating a confidence level of 95% and a margin of error of 5% (type 1 error is equal to 5%), 67 patients were calculated, and 70 patients were considered to increase the power of the study. became. Patients over 18 years of age with respiratory diseases who had referred to the emergency room of Imam Reza (AS) hospital from July 15 to September 15 with respiratory complaints were taken as a census until the required number of patients was completed. Patients with head trauma, spine trauma, people who underwent pre-hospital intubation, and people with cardiac arrest and cancer were excluded from the study. Results: 70 patients were included in this study. Based on this, the average age of the patients was 65.14 ± 14.40 (60.20-70.09, 95% CI). In examining the gender distribution of patients, 44 patients (62.9%) were male and 26 patients (37.1%) were female. Out of 70 patients, 4 patients (5.7%) underwent airway intubation. Of the studied patients, 62 patients (88%) were discharged and 6 patients (9%) died. In examining the relationship between the duration of hospitalization of patients and the outcome of patients with the studied variables, there was no correlation between the variables with the length of hospitalization of patients and the study did not show a significant relationship between the ratio of oxygen saturation to heart rate and the length of hospitalization of patients. There was a significant relationship between the ratio of oxygen saturation to heart rate and the outcome of patients, and this relationship was moderate, that is, the bigger this ratio, the more likely the patient will be discharged. In addition, there is a significant relationship between the patient's history of high blood pressure and the patient's outcome, and the higher the patient's blood pressure and the higher the patient's blood pressure risk factor, the higher the probability of the patient's death.
