Abstract
Movement disorder is one of the most important symptoms of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. The present study was conducted with the aim of comparing hand coordination in adolescents with ADHD and controls.
Materials and methods: In this study, which is a cross-sectional study. Sampling was done by the sampling method available to all adolescents with ADHD who were diagnosed with ADHD by a child and adolescent psychiatry subspecialist. The sample size was selected for two groups of cases and controls, 30 people for each group. After obtaining consent, a semi-structured diagnostic interview SAPS-K-PL was conducted in both groups by a specialist in child and adolescent psychiatry. Then, the two-hand coordination task was measured by the Veena test system for all samples. SPSS.26 software was used for data analysis using independent t-test.
Findings: The first hypothesis showed that the average duration of hand coordination in adolescents with ADHD and the control group is not significantly different from each other. The second hypothesis showed that the average duration of total error and the percentage of total error duration in adolescents with ADHD are higher compared to the control group. The research findings in the third hypothesis showed that the difficulty level of hand coordination in adolescents with ADHD is not different compared to the control group.
