Investigating The Status of Asset Integrity and Determining the Criticality of East Azerbaijan Gas Company Facilities Using HSE Indicators
Abstract
Introduction: With the passage of time and industrialization, organizations are looking for strategies to ensure the preservation and maintenance of assets and their integrity, with the ultimate goal of increasing their efficiency. asset integrity is of great importance in ensuring the reliability and safe operation of industrial facilities. Its purpose is to prevent accidents, equipment breakdowns, and unexpected interruptions, all of which can have significant financial and safety consequences. The goal of asset integrity is to prevent accidents, equipment failures, and unanticipated interruptions in operation, all of which possess significant financial and safety implications. Our purpose in this study was to investigate the state of asset integrity and determine the criticality of East Azerbaijan gas company facilities using HSE indicators.
Method
In order to gain an understanding of the condition of asset integrity within the organization, an initial step involved referencing and analyzing various documents, including the gas company's asset management system, details regarding maintenance and repair protocols, and conducting consultations with subject matter experts. Through this comprehensive approach, the state of asset integrity was examined and a number of indicators were determined.

Then, by searching scientific articles and books, other indicators of asset integrity were extracted. Following the identification of the indicators, a constructed questionnaire was devised to evaluate the validity of said indicators. Once the indicators were finalized, a paired comparison questionnaire was prepared and subsequently disseminated among experts specializing in safety and health. The outcomes were inputted into the software known as Super Decision and the process of modeling was executed. Through the creation of the necessary matrices, an assessment was made by comparing the indicators and sub-indices in pairs and establishing their respective weight and rank. Utilizing the indicators, a checklist was formulated with the intention of gauging the significance of the gas company's facilities, subsequently determining the degree of criticality. By applying this checklist to samples of the equipment, the level of criticality was ascertained.
Results
Upon conducting a thorough examination of the gas company's various documents and scrutinizing their systems, it was observed that the aforementioned documents and systems explicitly mention indicators such as reliability. According to the findings acquired, a total of 37 ultimate indicators were acquired, which were categorized into 6 distinct classifications. Once these indicators underwent the process of weight assignment and ranking within the designated software, their order of precedence was established. The safety indicator emerged as the most significant with a weight of 26%, thereby ranked first position. Following suit, the environmental impact and the hygiene indicators occupied the second and third slots, respectively, with weights of 19.1% and 16.4% The remaining indicators, pertaining to maintenance/inspection as well as technical and economic specifications/purchase, were assigned subsequent ranks. By implementing the checklist on the equipment list of the gas company, it was determined that the equipment was critical or not.
Conclusion
According to the obtained results, the equipment of the gas company is critical and very important, and with the ranking created by the checklist, it will be possible to formulate and implement appropriate maintenance and repair management plans, as well as revise the existing plans so that all funds are used in their best condition. The findings of the investigation have the potential to enhance the state of equipment upkeep and prolong their lifespan.
