Abstract
Older age, higher socio-economic status, lower levels of waiting time for service provision, and higher levels of patient satisfaction were identified as determinant factors for patients’ referral to private healthcare centers. On the other hand, better access to governmental centers, wider insurance coverage, and greater perceived severity of the disease by the patient were factors related to referring governmental centers. The findings of the study show the necessity of planning to improve the quality of services and satisfaction with the services of governmental centers and to create better insurance coverage in private centers. It seems necessary to create an accurate information recording system, to create a platform for tracking patients and contacts in private centers, and to establish an organized communication between private and governmental centers in order to exchange information and coordinate management.
