Clinical and histologicalevaluation of socket preservation using concentrated growth factor for implant site preparation (A double blinded split mouth randomized clinical trial )
Abstract
Introduction: The use of platelet products due to the release of growth factors accelerates the healing and regeneration of bone tissue and soft tissue, Therefore, the use of concentrated growth factor (CGF) in oral and dental surgeries seems to be a suitable option for the reconstruction of dental soft bone in a shorter period of time and preservation the width of the ridge for the subsequent implant treatment. The aim of this clinical trial study is to evaluate the clinical and histological changes of socket preservation by using CGF to prepare the implant area during two months after extraction, which is the recommended time for early implant placement, which reduces the duration of edentulousness and at the same time, soft tissue healing is complete.
Materials and methods: This research was an RCT study with a split-mouth design on 45 patients referred to the Faculty of Dentistry in Tabriz, whose treatment plan included bilateral tooth extraction. After obtaining venous blood, both teeth of the patient were extracted in one session. One tooth was randomly selected as the control and the other tooth as the CGF group. HI index, visual analogue social (VAS), CBCT and histology were checked after surgery.
Results : The results of this study showed that plasma rich in growth factors (CGF) significantly prevented the reduction of alveolar buccolingual and mesiodistal size compared to the control group (natural treatment). In relation to the width of the bone below the crest, CGF significantly prevented the reduction of bone size compared to the control group (at 3 mm below the crest bone, but the difference with the control group was borderline significant - P = 0.051).
Conclusion: As a general conclusion, the results of this study indicate that the use of concentrated growth factors (CGF) is a very suitable solution for maintaining alveolar bone and tooth socket after tooth extraction, this substance not only prevents Reduction of other dental socket bones, but also reduces pain after surgery and also maintains the quality of soft tissue after tooth extraction.
