Study of the relationship between blood glucose and cerebrospinal fluid glucose in adults with suspected bacterial meningitis
Abstract
Considering that limited studies on the measurement of common markers in CSF have been carried out to detect bacterial meningitis in the emergency in recent years, and results in various studies are contradictory and in accordance with the above-mentioned materials that diagnose rapid and The onset of antibiotic therapy in these patients is very vital. Therefore, in this study, the relationship between cerebrospinal fluid glucose and blood glucose in suspected patients suspected of bacterial meningitis in adults.
Material and methods:
This study was performed on patients who were diagnosed with meningitis under lumbar pancreas (LP). The data of 200 patients including age, sex, cerebrospinal fluid glucose and serum glucose levels (measured by glucometer and laboratory) were collected. We analyzed the data by SPSS software.
Results:
Bacterial meningitis was detected in 23 cases (11.5%). The sensitivity and specificity of the curve and the surface of the curve and the discontinuation of the CSF fluid ratio to the blood measured by the laboratory were 91.3%, 86.4%, 0.41 and 0.91, respectively, and this parallel for the ratio of CSF liquid sugar to blood measured by glucometer the order was 91.3%, 89.3%, 0.41 and 0.94, respectively. On the other hand, the average duration of sugar test was significantly higher than glucometry (P <0.05).
