Evaluation of the expression levels of miR-330 and TYMS gene in tumor and healthy marginal samples around the tumor in colorectal cancer
Abstract
Colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer in the world, with 1.2 million new cases reported annually. Despite the rapid progress made in the field of diagnosis and treatment of this disease, early diagnosis of this type of cancer, assessment of prognosis and selection of appropriate treatment are still very important. In the present project, the aim of investigating miR-330 and TYMS genes is to find possible biomarkers and to better understand the disease process. Considering the importance of the problem, the present study aims to investigate the expression changes of miR-330 and TYMS gene in tumor samples. and healthy marginal around the tumor in colorectal cancer.
Methods: The present study is a case-control study that has a prospective approach and was conducted in Imam Reza Hospital (Tabriz University of Medical Sciences) during the year 2020. First, according to the prevalence of colorectal cancer,100 samples of tumoral tissue of patients with colon cancer and 100 samples of healthy margins were collected, and then the RNA of said tissues was extracted, and after cDNA synthesis, gene expression was investigated. Targets were detected using real time PCR method in clinical samples. The results of the surveys were checked with the help of valid statistical tests.
Results: According to clinical pathology data and its relationship with miRNA expression levels, a significant relationship between metastatic progression and miR-330 expression levels was observed.
