Abstract
Introduction: Patient safety is a global health concern that affects patients in all areas of health services in all countries of the world. In addition to inflicting suffering on humans, unsafe care and medical services also bring heavy economic costs. Due to their sensitive and fragile body structure, verbal and movement limitations, children are highly prone to injury and any mistake can cause irreparable injuries. Nurses are the largest patient care group, so their safety attitude as well as organizational safety atmosphere is one of the most important factors affecting patient safety and the incidence of injuries, disabilities and deaths. Considering that the studies conducted in this regard were mostly in the field of adults and no comprehensive study was found in the field of children, this study was conducted with the aim of investigating the relationship between the organizational safety climate and the safety attitude of pediatric nurses and its relationship with the rate of error in Tabriz Children's Hospital. Methods: In this descriptive-Correlation study, 284 nurses working in all departments of Tabriz Mardani Azar Children's Hospital were included in the study. The data collection tool included the demographic characteristics form, the SAQ safety attitude questionnaire, the NORADIC organizational safety questionnaire and the medical error report forms of the past year(1400) in the hospital. The type of sampling using the available method included all nurses who met the inclusion criteria. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS version 21 software Analytical (Pearson) and statistical tests. Results: The average score of pediatric nurses' safety attitude was 10.45±61.65 and the average score of organizational safety climate was 0.253±2.73, which indicates the relatively weak level of nurses' attitude towards patient safety and the favorable level of their attitude towards organizational safety. The results of statistical tests showed that there is a positive and significant relationship between nurses' safety attitude and organizational safety (P<0.05). And the amount of error reporting is about 66 letters per month. Conclusion: The results of this study showed that the organizational safety climate from the point of view of the nurses working in Tabriz Children's Educational Therapy Center was good, and the rate of occurrence and reporting of errors in the past year was at an average level. Therefore, in order to improve the attitude towards the safety climate, it is necessary to improve the performance and also reduce the error rate by establishing a safety culture in the organization. Considering that the safety climate has a direct effect on the safety performance, therefore, it is possible to improve the safety performance of people by improving the attitude towards the safety climate.
