Investigation of orthopedic assessment and consultations of multi-trauma patients referred to the emergency department of Imam Reza Hospital of Tabriz
Abstract
Although the role of organ injuries is often underestimated due to complications and mortality, their treatment plays a major role in the management of multi-trauma patients. However, until now there are few epidemiological data on limb injuries in multiple trauma patients. Therefore, the main goal of this study is to investigate the causes or factors involved in the follow-up of patients with orthopedic trauma.
method: In this study, which is a descriptive analytical study, all multi-trauma patients who visited the emergency room within a year and their complaint was multi-trauma were included in the study. Then, all the patients included in the study were examined and noted in terms of the prevalence of orthopedic injuries, and the patients who underwent orthopedic consultation in the emergency room were also examined and noted, and the orthopedic procedures performed for the patients by the orthopedist in the emergency room were also noted. became.
Results: In this study, 1438 patients were included in the study, based on this, the average age of the patients was 41.52 ± 22.45 years, the median age of the patients was 40 years, with a median of 24 to 57 years. In examining the gender distribution of patients, 1034 patients (52%) were male and 404 patients (48%) were female. 80.7% of patients were referred to orthopedic center and 14.2% of patients were discharged without referral to orthopedic center. 1.3% of patients have escaped from the hospital and 2.3% of patients have left the hospital with personal consent. It often involves fractures and splinting in the upper limb. Long-leg and long-arm splints and short-arm splints include the most amount of splints, and plastering is at a minimum, because plastering is delayed due to the impossibility of controlling the compartment pressure and also performing frequent examinations at different times and places.
