Improving patient safety by effective implementing the safe surgery checklist of the World Health Organization in Valiasr Hospital, Tabriz

Abstract
Abstract Introduction: The effectiveness of the surgical safety checklist to reduce the rate of mortality and complications depends on its correct implementation by the surgical team in the operating rooms. The purpose of this study is to improve patient safety by effectively implementing the World Health Organization's safe surgery checklist in Tabriz Valiasr Hospital. Method and Materials: The study is a qualitative study that was conducted between 2018 and 2021 in (TUOMS), using systematic review, qualitative and Delphi research methods. In the systematic review English and Persian databases to select published articles, were searched with related keywords. data were collected by using a semi-structured interview method. the elements and components of the framework were provided to experts in this field through two Delphi rounds to confirm the items and validation to obtain the final framework. Finally, after the intervention, the effectiveness of the SSC was evaluated. SPSS-22 software were used for data analysis Finding: The results of data analysis (systematic review, qualitative and Delphi study) identified the factors, facilitators and barriers to the implementation of surgical safety Checklist. 17 articles were included. barriers and facilitators to implementatini included 5 categories: individual, team, process, systemic and related to the checklist itself. finaly The framework for the effective implementation includes the elements of facilitators, barriers, factors, which was validated and finalized using the perspective of experts. Conclusions: Implementing a safe surgery checklist in operating rooms requires creating and using facilitators and removing barriers. It is necessary to create the right belief and attitude towards the checklist among the surgical teams in the first stage, and then implement the checklist in the operating rooms with a comprehensive and correct plan, and considering other influential factors.
