Abstract
Coronary artery bypass surgery is very effective in the treating coronary artery diseases. Usually, the saphenous vein is used as a graft in these surgeries. However, the rate of these veins remaining open due to atherosclerosis is low. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of average platelet volume on the prognosis of patients who undergo coronary artery bypass surgery through saphenous graft. Method: The data of the considered patients from Shahid Madani Heart Center of Tabriz between 2010 and 2017, whose follow-up information was available for at least two years and who had undergone coronary angiography after CBAG, were extracted from the patient files. Including the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 150 patients were included in the study. Patients were divided into two groups based on SVGD and mortality. Results: The average MPV during CAG in patients with SVGD was significantly higher than in patients without SVGD (<0.001). However, there was no significant difference in the number of platelets between patients with and without SVGD (p=0.824). In addition, the ratio of MPV/PC among patients with SVGD was significantly higher than other patients (p=0.042). The area under the ROC diagram for factors MPV during CAG, MPV/PC during CAG was equal to 0.852, 0.597, respectively.
