Abstract
Introduction Coverage is the ability of cement to hide the dark color of the abutment, which ultimately affects the final color of the translucent zirconia veneers. The purpose of this study was to compare the color coverage of different abutments by different cements for zirconia veneers. Methods The present study was a laboratory study on zirconium cores prepared by CAD/CAM technique with gold (zirconia nitride) and silver (titanium) abutments and zinc phosphate, glass ionomer and temp bond cements for 6 months with 36 samples. Each sample was measured once before using cement and once after cementing to obtain E∆ color changes using Spectroshade Micro II spectrophotometer and statistical analysis was performed using SPSS version 26 software. Results The lowest amount of E∆ was related to the silver glass ionomer group with a mean of 0.46 ± 0.16, and the highest value was related to the gold zinc phosphate group with a mean of 1.07 ± 0.65. Based on the results of one-way analysis of variance, the average difference of E∆ between the studied groups was statistically significant (p=0.007). The results of Tukey's test showed that only the average difference in color change between the two groups of silver zinc phosphate and silver glass ionomer is statistically significant (p = 0.03) and the average difference in color change between other groups was not statistically significant (p >0.05). Conclusion The results of this study showed that the type of abutment has no effect on the degree of coverage and the cements used in this study did not cause unacceptable color changes.
