investigation of salivary biomarkers IL-6 .IL-1Beta and TNF Alpha in burning mouth syndrom systematic review

Abstract
Introduction: This systematic review aims to investigate the salivary biomarkers of interleukin 6 (IL-6), interleukin 1β (IL-1β), and Tumor necrosis factor (TNF-α) in burning mouth syndrome in order to pro-inflammatory cytokines are effective in causing and sustaining pain due to nerve damage and whether some salivary interleukins are elevated in burning mouth syndrome (BMS) patients. Materials and methods: In this study a systematic review of Google Scholar, PubMed, and SCOPUS database articles from 2000 to 2021. All information was categorized in a table Results: : In the review search performed in the mentioned databases and according to the considered period, 264 articles related to the searched words were found through the abstract. After removing duplicate titles and articles, 61 articles were selected and the more detailed review by the evaluation team was reduced to 28 articles. The full articles of these 28 articles were reviewed. For the final selection, 15 of these articles had inclusion criteria and included the objectives of the present study. Conclusion: Burning mouth syndrome is a chronic disorder with an unknown cause that involves systemic and neuropathic factors. due to inconsistent studies and very few clinical trial studies deciding whether there is an association between IL-6, TNF-α, IL-1β, and burning mouth syndrome or not requires further studies.
