Psychosocial determinants of marriage expectations among referrals to Asad abadi and Haftom-e- Tir premarital counseling center of Tabriz

Abstract
Expectations from marriage are a series of realistic, idealistic and pessimistic expectations that show people's opinions in relation to the three areas of intimacy, agreement and equality. This study was conducted to determine the psychosocial factors affecting the expectation of marriage in patients referred to pre-marriage counseling centers in Asadabadi and Haftam Tir in Tabriz. Materials and Methods: In this study, 428 participants from Asadabadi and Haft Tir counseling centers in Tabriz were admitted to the study based on the inclusion criteria and after obtaining written consent. Data collection tools in this study were Marriage Expectancy Scale (MES), General Health Questionnaire (GHQ 28) and Iranian Socio-Economic Status Questionnaire (SES), which were provided to participants after completing the necessary instructions. Data were collected by the end of 1397 and entered into SPSS software. In 1398, appropriate statistical analysis ( Independent T-test and ANOVA, Pearson correlation test, canonical correlation test and multivariate linear test) were performed on them. in all statistical tests, a statistically significant level of 0.05 was considered. Results: The mean age of participants in the present study was 25.7 ± 5.3. The mean of the total marriage expectancy index was 157 ± 6.5, the mean of the realistic expectation of marriage subscale was 76.8 ± 6.2, the idealistic expectancy subscale was 59.8 ± 6.7 and the mean of the pessimistic expectation subscale was 3.7. ± 3/20. There was no relationship between socio-economic status and expectation of marriage, but general health at the level of physical symptoms (P = 0.006, r = -0.13), anxiety and insomnia symptoms (P < 0.001, r = -0.21), symptoms Social function (P < 0.010, r = 0.32) and depressive symptoms(p<0.001, r=-0.3) showed a significant relationship with expectation from marriage.
