چکیده
Clubfoot has long been known as a challenging disease for orthopedic surgeons for which there are various treatments. One of the biggest problems that patients with clubfoot treated with the Ponseti method suffer from is limitation in the range of motion of the ankle in all directions; So far, no comprehensive study has been performed to evaluate the range of motion of the ankle in patients treated with the Ponseti method. It was examined radiologically. Materials and Methods: 200 patients with clubfoot who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria during the years 2020 and 2021 were included in this randomized clinical trial. Patients were randomly divided into two groups, one group was treated with the usual Ponseti method (including manipulation, casting, tenotomy and then 3 weeks of casting and finally braces) and the second group with Modified ponseti method (including manipulation, casting). , Tenotomy, two 3-week casts and finally braces) were treated. Finally, the range of motion and performance scores of both legs before and after treatment in the two groups were examined and compared between the two groups. Results: After the intervention, it was found that the mean ± standard deviation of zinc score for children in the modification group was significantly higher than children in the classical group (P = 0.048); Also, the number of children in the modification group who had very good results were significantly higher than the children in the classical group (P = 0.041); Also, in the two angles of dorsiflexion and plantarflexion of the ankle in the modified method, more favorable results were obtained, which indicates that this method is better (P <0.05)
