effect of concentrated autologous serum (ACS) on histological and clinical characteristics of soft tissue after horizontal ridge augmentation and socket preservation surgeries.
Abstract
Introduction:
Changes in the histological and clinical characteristics of the soft tissue of the area have an effect on the success of bone graft surgery. During cellular tissue repair in the present area, it helps to advance the repair process by producing different cytokines. ACS is an autologous blood product that is an IL-1β antagonist. This blood product under the brand name Artokin was used for the first time in the treatment of inflammation in the joint area, and remarkable success showed that ACS modulates inflammation by binding to its receptor (IL-1Ra) and prevents the destructive effects of excessive inflammation.
materials and methods
One day before the surgery, 10 cc of blood is obtained from the patient's vein and it is immediately injected into the ACS special syringe. Then the above syringe is placed in an incubator at 37 degrees Celsius for 8 hours and then it is placed in a centrifuge at 3000 rpm for 10 minutes. After the centrifugation stage, the syringe is removed from the device and has two upper and lower parts. The upper part is carefully taken out by the syringe and stored as ACS in the refrigerator and used in the position on the day of the operation
Results
The results of the histological characteristics of the soft tissue after the horizontal ridge reconstruction surgery showed that the number of fibroblasts in the ACS group samples was significantly higher than the control group. Also, ACS caused a significant increase in the amount of collagen in the soft tissue compared to the control group. But the number of inflammatory cells was similar in two groups. The results of the histological characteristics of the soft tissue after the surgery to protect the silence indicated that the number of fibroblasts in the samples of the group ACS was significantly higher than the control group. ACS caused a significant increase in the amount of collagen in the soft tissue compared to the control group. Also, ACS caused a significant decrease in the number of inflammatory cells in the soft tissue compared to the control group. After horizontal ridge reconstruction surgery, the amount of pain on the first day was similar in both groups, but on the third and seventh days, the ACS group was significantly lower than the control group. After silent protection surgery, there was no significant difference between the two groups in the level of pain on the first, third, and seventh follow-up days.
Conclusion
ACS is very beneficial in controlling soft tissue inflammation in the surgical area and advancing the healing process and improving clinical and histological characteristics
