Abstract
Background and objective: Employers and insurance companies spend billions of dollars annually on psychological violence in the workplace, which is spent on growing health care, relocation, absenteeism, sick leave, litigation, and negative publicity. Therefore, it is in the best interest of the organization to take psychological violence in the workplace and to develop strategies for implementing psychological violence. The present study is the first comprehensive attempt to investigate the problem of violence in Iran. The purpose of this study was to find the extent of violence, identifing its causes and investigating the relationship between the causes of violence and its prevention. Method: The present study was conducted as a cross-sectional study (with a descriptive-analytical approach) among industrial staff in Tabriz. The sample size was calculated based on Morgan table (768 people). A modified Negative Action Questionnaire (NAQ-R) and the Copenhagen Psychosocial Questionnaire (COPSOQ) were used to collect data in this study. The collected data were then analyzed using SPSS software version 21. Results: According to the results of this study, none of the demographic variables had a significant relationship with psychological violence. The regression model of psychological violence on the variables of psychological and social factors, after adjusting the contextual variables, showed that psychological violence is significantly related to the impact on work, leadership quality, and burnout. Based on the results, offensive behavior with an average of 91.5 received the highest score. The concept of working with an average of 17.62 and the effectiveness of working with an average of 17.64 obtained the lowest scores related to psychosocial factors among workers.
