Evaluation of Re-hospitalization of heart failure patients with focus on pharmacological causes
Abstract
One of the main challenges in patients with heart failure is Re-exacerbation of heart failure after discharge; which leads to rehospitalization and imposes an excessive financial burden.Aim:Evaluation of rehospitalization of heart failure patients with the focus on pharmacological causes. Method:This prospective cross-sectional study was performed on patients with decompensated heart failure in Shahid Madani Cardiovascular Hospital in Tabriz for six months. Patients with decompensated heart failure older than eighteen who were rehospitalized were included in the study. Patient who did not consent to participate or whose data were not complete were exluded from the study. Data was analyzed in SPSS software version 23 by Chi-square or Fisher tests and Spearman test. The linear regression analysis was used to evaluate the studiedy factor’s effects on study outcomess. Results:During 6 months, 112 patients who were Re-hospitalized in to Shahid Madani Hospital due to decompensated heart failure were examined, 20.5% of patients were female and 79.5% were male, mean age of patients were 68.75 years and 52.7% of them had a family history of heart disease. According to Spearman test, the number of rehospitalization of patients with age (r = 0.254, p = 0.008) and heart rate implantation (r = 0.287, p = 0.002) and left ventricular ejection fraction (r = / 239) 0, p = 0.03) and the patient's adherence to prescribed drugs (r = 0.222, p = 0.021) and cardiac ischemia (r = 0.394, p = 0.394) had significant relationship. Conclusion:The rate of Re-hospitalization patients with heart failure disease has a significant relationship with the parameters of age, pacemaker implantation (CRT), LVEF (Left Ventricular Ejection Fraction), patient’s compliance of prescribed medication, and ischemic heart disease.
