Methods: This was a cross-sectional study conducted in 2020 in trauma referral centers in Tabriz. A valid and reliable questionnaire including 24 items for assessing knowledge, 26 items regarding road traffic safety attitude and 19 items on traffic safety practice and demographics, was used for data gathering. Census sampling method was used. Descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation and logistic regression modeling was used for data analyzing using SPSS software.
Results: Totally 206 ED staff were participated in the study (response rate= 89.5%). About 60% of the participants were female and mean age was 35.06±7.4. Mean score for ED staff traffic safety knowledge, attitude and behavior was 9.73 ± 2.28 out of 15, 95.3±11.4 out of 118 and 61.3±8 out of 76 respectively. Staff traffic safety knowledge was associated with their attitude and behavior. Moreover, uni-variate logistic regression modeling results revealed that participants' traffic safety attitude (OR= 0.96 (95% CI= 0.93-0.99)) and behavior (OR= 0.95 (95% CI= 0.91-0.99)) independently and frequency of driving in a week were related with reduction in road traffic accidents.
